The Nelson Boys Fit and Well Final Preparations for Departure. [By Telegbaph.] [fbom our special cobbespondent.] Wellington, January 18. Hundreds visited the Camp to-day, whicti presents a very animatrd appearance. In the morning Nos. 1 and 2 Companies were reviewed by the Governor at Island Bay. I visited the Camp, and found that the Hotckkisa detachment were not with the others, consequently saw nearly all our boys. Turnbullwas on guard, and looks well, and is thoroughly tanned, by the sun. Sergt Sadd was busy, but I had a chat. He is the pioture of health. Last evening he, with another from the Government ■ • Insurance Departmeut, was entertained, and was the recipient of a spirit flask, silver cigarette holder, com^ pasa, and burning glass* and wad cheered;and toasted with enthusiasm; The OrientalFootball Club, whom he captained, presentee^ him with a silver-mounted pipe, match box, : and poach, while to-night the' D Battery in* tend making a presentation, and entertaining him. Trooper Moeller, an old Collegian '■'" was entertained by the Star Boating Club last night. ■ , „ , Our fellows are - all fit and well, and Nel- . aon has four representatives on' the Battery,. - namely Sergt Sadd, Troopers Curtis, Mil---roy, and Stevens, and in the mounted infantry Turnbull, Delaney (formerly o! Motueka), Kerr, Griffiths, Jennings, and H/ Stuckey, the latter having left his position as teacher at Christ's College to volunteer. I have spent the day in Camp chatting with; one and another of our fellows, who are all keen and full of fight. ... General leave was granted after parade - this morning, and there were only a few left in camp, and these were busy attending to the final preparations before the departure. The horses were ridden for the last tune in New Zealand this morning, and - will be shipped to-morrow. ; Photographic • fiends are in evidence, there being fully > thirty in camp, and many amusing groups. - were taken, one being of a stalwart trooper in a lady friend's hat, while she wore his; carrying his rifle at the Bhoulder.
