AuoKtAKD, January 16. A severe whirlwind passed over a portion of the Narrows district, Cambridge. A barn was unroofed and sheets of iron were strewn about the paJdook, and blown np into treeß. Gisbobne, January 17. The Gisborne Harbor Board has completed arrangementsrwith Anderson and Co., of Ohristohuroh, for the construction of a twin screw hopper dredge.
| Napieb, January 16. The Harbor Board has acoepted the tender of Langlands and Go. for the reolamation of the Whareomaranui Lagoon adjoining the, town. Tbe oontraotors take a lease of the property for 21 years, paying from £5 to £300 a year rent. They reolaim the whole of the lagoon within a fixed time, the Borough getting a park and a recreation ground bee. .
