Old Age Pensioners.

Dunedin, May 11,

The question of whether an old age pensioner is a destitute person came before Mr Carew, S.M., to-day, on a man suing his relations to contribute to his support. For the informant it was contended that a man could not be compelled to go to the Benevolent Home, as his friends desired, although he would be kept there for 5s per week and have 2s of his pension for pocket money. The Magistrate decided that the relatives must contribute a sum sufficient, with the pension, to keep the man.
