London, May 8. Large crowds witnessed the opening of the Greater Britain Exhibition by the Duke of Cambridge to-day. May 9. lhe mineral display at the Greater Britain Exhibition by Victoria, Queensland, and West Australia is an excellent one. The Agents-General and man; oolonists were present at the opening ceremony. Mr Taverner, Sir Andrew Clarke, and Sir Horace Tozer welcomed the Duke of Cambridge, who visited the respective courts, complimenting each. The Duke of Cambridge, who presided at luncheon, expressed a hope that these displays would have the effect of widening interest in the Colonies and cementing the bonds o union. Mr Taverner, in thanking th< , Duke of Cambridge, hoped that Mi Chamberlain would yet see his waj • to establish united joint ownershi] of the Pacific cable.
