The weather was stirowery in the morning, bflt it cleared up irf the afternoon. The attendance was rather limited. The New Zealand team, with four out for 64, continued their first irinings which realised 111 for 13 men. tke Mills scored a most serviceable 30, Ashbolt 10/. Gobcroft 15. With a rapidly drying wicket, Otago, batting 11 men, scored 37. Rees was unplayable, and he secured nine wickets for 14 runs. Requiring 32 to win, the New Zealand team hit them up for the loss of three wickets. D. Rsese made 10, Cobcroft and Baker 5 each, I. Mills (not out) 9.
