Ltbll, January 20. The following is the Alpine mine managers report : — Stoping has been carried on at the 1 back of No 9 level, the reef still ranging from four to seven feet and in the top stopes the quality of the stone has improved i during the week. Four men havt been engaged sinking a winze in the north end of the level and the total depth is now 19 feet, There has been a slight pinch in the reef but .sJie stone is again widening out again, and the quality remains as before. At the back of No 10 level stoping has keen continued, on a reef from 4to 12 feet. The south end of the reef is not being taken out. In the uprise at the south end of Noll leyeiypreparations for driving an intermediate level have been completed and a further joiejght of 7 feet has been risen. The reef, however, is still small, but some of the stone carries fair gold. The extension of Nft ljL level north was started on Monday afternoon and a distance of 16 feet has been driven. We are carrying along a good track, of reef. .The amount of stone sent to the battery is 240 tons, and from the top plates a return of 42ozb amalgam was obtained from 230 tons of stone treated.
