North Island Main Trunk Railway.

Wellington, October 17

Several Auckland and Taranaki members of the House and Council this afternoon met a deputation,, consisting of Messrs Shera and Cheal, sent from Auckland in connection with the demands for the construction of tbe Stratford route of the North Island main trunk railway. Messrs Shera and Cheal placed before the meeting a rtsolut'on, which it is proposed to hand to tha Government, and which urges upon the Government the desirability, in the best interests of tha Colony, of proceeding with the construction of the Stratford route. On the motion of Mr O'Eorke, it was decided to agree with the resolution, and also to accompany the deputation when it submits it to the Government.
