NELSON CHESS CLUB.

TnF. annual general meeting of the Nelson Chess Club (adjourned from the Ist instant) was held at the Club room on Wednesday evening.

The chair was occupied by the President, Mr Humphries.

Mr Humphries was again nominated for President, but he being unable to attend regularly begged to decline, and Mrs Fathers moved, and Mr Hounsell seconded, that Mr Flett be the President for the ensuing year, which was carried nem con.

Miss Harris and Mr Merrick were elected Vic-Presidents.

Mr L- G. W. Godden was elected Secretary and Treasurer ; Miss Worsley, Mrs Hudson, and Messrs Humphries, Hounsell, Adams and Biley were elected on the Committee ; Messrs Flett, Merrick, and Hounsell as handicappers.

3 ; was resolved that the subscriptions for the year be the same as last year, viz , for gentlemen 7s Gd, for ladies 2s Gd, and junior members 2s.

It was agreed that the Club Room should be at Miss Harris' studio, and that the Club should met on Mondays and Fridays from 7 to 10 p.m, the date for opening being Friday .the 15th April. Mr Humphries offered a set of chessmen as a prize to the winner of the Handicap Tournament, which was accepted with a vote of thanks.

A vote of thanks to the President and past officers were also carried, and after some minor propositions were discussed and arranged, the proceedings closed. The Nelson Chess Club is affiliated with the New Zealand Chess Association, and consequently has a right to send a member to the Annual Chess Tournament.
