[from our own correspondent.] On Wednesday evening last a chess match was played at the residence of Mr Campbell Ellis, Gordon Downs. The match etween six players picked from fbe "Club and six members of the family W. Cole, of Eighty-Eight Valley. l to tbe hospitality of Mr and Mrs I
Ellis, a very enjoyable evening was spent. The result was a win for Mr Cole's team by eight games to four. The games were as follows :—
