Mining Fatality.

Inquest.

Auckland, April 10.

At the inquest into the circumstances attending the fatal accident in the Silverton mine, Mr Coutls, mining inspector, who visited the scene of the catastrophe, gave evidence explaining how the accident occurred, as did also Mr Moore, the mine manager. The jury returned a verdict of "Accidental death," adding a rider that the manager should exercise greater precaution in timbering the shaft. < A horrible circumstance in connection with the accident is that the deceased's body, whilst lying in Tanner's Hall on Thursday night, was attacked by rats and the features terribly mutilated.
