MINE MANAGER'S EEPOET,

[Bt Telegraph.]

laell, February 26. The Alpine mine manager reports that the extension of the No, 10 main level has been carried on, and a distance of eight feet has been driven, making the total extension 333 feet, The reef is not quite so large as when last reported. In the lower stopes above this level the reef maintains the same size, but it is inclined to become slightly intermixed with mullock in the incline uprise. Above the top stopes the reef is about three feet in width, but, up to the present, has been of inferior quality. The Lyell Creek Company's old uprise has been extended by two men for a height of four feet. The reef is between nine and 10 feet j in width, and a trial crushing from this portion of tbe mine will be put through at the beginning of next week. The chamber at the top of the main shaft is completed, but two day's work will yet be necessary to complete the timbering up of the rope way. In No. 9 level, the uprise has been extended for a further height of four feet, as the reef deteriorated in size. The men engaged here have been removed to another portion of the mine for tte present. The No. 4 level has been driven by the contractors for a further distance of 17 feet, making the total exten-ion 73 feet. There is no change in the country passed through, and the track of reef remains as last reported. The contractors for the timber tramway completed the work in the early part of the week. jThe number of tons of stone sent to the battery for the week is 150.
