ATTACK ON THE KING OF GREECE.
Attempted Assassination.
Athens, February 27. A sensational occurrence happened yesterday. While King George and the Princess Marie were driving along Phaleron Bay two well dressed men, armed with rifles and concealed in a, ditch at the roadside fired at tha
carriage. A groom in attendance On the King was slightly wounded in tlie leg and one of the horses was slightly injured. The coachman immediately whipped the horses into a gallop. A youth then came boldly out on the road, knelt down, and delibsrately aimed at the King, who was standing up to shield his daughter. The King saw the youth's hand shaking, which caused him to misshi3 aim; The intending assassins fired seven shots after the carriage, which reached the Palace safely. $he King ttates that he would be able to identify the youth. Intense horror and indignation at the attack are expressed by politicians of all parties, who congratulated the Regal party upon their escape. The courage displayed by the King has provoked enthusiastic admiration in Athens, but otherwise the capital is tranquil.
