Fire on Board s-s Manaroa.

Wellington. February 14. A fire broke out on board the steamer Manaroa while she was moored alongside the Queen's wharf to night. The fire brigade was quickly on the spot, and the fire, which apparently originated in the coal bunkers, was soon extinguished, but not before a lot of water had been poured down. The Manaroa is a small steamer trading to the west coast of this island, and was

recently purchased by a syndicate from Mr J. Cross, though the latter retains an inter- ' est. . . The damage is not very great, and is covered by insurance.
