The minutes were read and confirmed. The correspondence was read and considered. Mr Gibbs, Head Master of the Central School, wrote asking the Committee tu forward to the Board an application for the bonus to be paid to Mr Worley for teaching science to the pupils. He bore testimony that Mr Worley spared neither time nor trouble in that work. If was resolved on the motion of Mr Piper, that the application be forwarded to the Board, with a recommendation that it be granted. The requisitions from the teachers wera considered, and a number of repairs were ordered to be executed, including a new pole for the swing at the Girls' Toi Toi Valley School. A complaint being made regarding the water supply at the Central School, it was left to Mr Piper to enquire about, and to report at the next meeting of the Committee. Mr Fathers considered the trees on the Central School grounds should be protected. . He said it would cost £4 15s on the cheap- [ est plan. Postponed until the next meeting. ! Mr Piper considered the Committee should know the days and hours that ' Biblical instruction was given in the schools, . and that such should not be changed with- ; out the consent of the Committee. He . also thought it would be best to have the , hours for such instruction to be the . same in each school. It was resolved to write to Mrs Mackie, '■ the Secretary, for the desired imformation. , Accounts amounting to £8 lis 9d wero passed for payments. [ Mr Firth brought up the question of the . removal of a boy from one school to another, ! which the boy's father much desired. It _ was pointed out that it had previously been I left in the hands of the Rev J. P. Kempthorne to deal with. ! It was resolved to leave the matter, which . it was thought could be accomplished with the aid of the Inspector, until Mr Kempthorne's return to Nelson. The Committee then adjourned.
