Proceedings Against John Ryley. Dunedin, March 4. At tbe Supreme Court 10-day John ByUy waa cbargod with breaches of the Bankruptcy Aot. Mr Haggitt, Crown Prosecutor, conducted the oase for the prosecution, and Meßsrs Sim and Frsser appeared lor the defendant, who was allowed to sit beeide his counsel. The iniiotment o -ntainei twenty, one counts founded on various clauses of the Bankroptoy Act. The first count dealt with failing to keep books which were usual and proper, and doirg bo with intent to oonoeil his true position. Then he is oh&Tged with making payments for shares, etc, out of the business, from whioh £20,000 had bean withdrawn, and going io for rash and hazardous speculation?. Be is further oharged with contracting debts without reasonable expeditions of beiug able to pay tbtm, BDd with undue preference in payments made. Ihe bearing of the case was n&t concluded.
