The Boar! met yesterday wh'n there were present : — Mer-srs Franklyn, Best, Phillips, Meginnity, Sinclair, Look, and Talbot (in the Cbair).
Tbe minutes were re 3d and confirmed.
The Board went into Committee.
Resolved : That a bonus of five guineas be awardeJ to Mr Arthur Maginnity fo; clsrioal a?s : staiice rendered to the Treasurer.
That the Cipleston Committee prepare specification for levelling the new site for a sohool, and invite tenders for the work. The specification atsd tenders to ba submitted to the Board, at the next mee'ing.
Tbat t^e question of painting and repairing ieecher'o house atßanzaa sand over.
That £5 be granted to Upper Wakefield Committee for a moveable partition for that aobo 1.
That the Fox Hill Committee be authorised to accept Mr E Fowlers tender (£l3 16s), for put ing iron roof on old sahoolroom.
That £5 be granted the Dovedale Oommit.ee for papering, eta, at teachers house.
That Messrs Talbot, Phillips, and Maginnity, with the Secretary, be appointed to meet a sob Committee of the Town Schools Committee, to confer re purchase of site for new outbuildings at Haven Bead Sohool,
That £15 be granted the Addison's Flat Committee for repairs to teacher's honse as per partioolars forwarded to the Board. That (he Board regrets that the Charleston Committee should be plaoed in such an unenviable position through the action of their ! predeoeesors, but is unable to increase the offer of asßist&nbe already made. to invite tenders for painting the teacher's house. Tenders to ba eubmiltei at tbe Board* mse'.ing in February, wi.h a view to tbe work being done in Maroh.
That the Karamea Committee invite tenders for painting the aohool. and repairing bargo boards. Tendora to be submitted at thi February meeting of the Board.
That £5 be granted ihs Karamea Com mittee towards cost of s elter shed.
That a 400 gal on tank be sent to Karamea fjr the teacher's houa°.
That the Richmond Committee invite tenders for painting teacher & house, and same be submitted to February m^etirg of tbe Bjard.
That a 400 gallon tank be forwarded to the side school at Nga:imoti.
That ihe Board oannoi pay r.nt of the present eoboolroom used by the Progress Committee, bat is prepared to aß3ist in creating a Echool as Boon as the site for sima has been scoured to the Board.
That £20 be devotad to tie Sammerlea Committee fcr lining for school, two new windows, etc
That a cheque for £20 be held by the Board'a Eecretary, pending the arrival of account and certinc >te that the work of g avelling the Westport Bobool ground is completed.
For the teaohership of Eaitana school, eight applications were received, resolved to forward the names of Misses R W. Dykes, Minnie Barber, and Mr Fred A, Bisley, to the C >mmitt9e.
For tha taaoherahip of the side schools at Ngatimoti, twelve applications were received, resolved to forward the names of Misses M. Bre-eton, R W. Dykee, Minnie Barker, and Mr F. A. Bisley. For the teaobership of the Brighton school nine app ioations were rtoeived, resolved to forward the names of Misse3 Keen, J. M'Elwee, E. M'Gavin, A. Jessop, and Mr R. K. Giro la-.
For probationer for Central Takaka aohool, six applications were reod»ed, and it was reso'vad to forward the names of Mr Herbert S mders, and Misses M. Beilly, G. Handoock, B. Syme , and M. K&f ghan.
For probationer for Weatport School, three applications received, bat no male applied. Res.lved to forward the names of Misses Josephson and Enright, bot if the Committee desired a male, the Board will advertise again.
For pobationer at Reef ton School, seven applications reoeived, and resolved to forward the names of Misees L Nicholson, H Phair, P LangdoD, and Jane Molloy, bus if the Committee d.sire a male, the Board will advertise again.
For probationer for Richmmd Boys' Sohool, six app'icitiona, resolved to forward all the names viz, Masters E Haoiphry, H San <ers, W J Cokman, Tho-nton Best, and Misses Be tie Biggar, and Maude Elli?. For probationer at Little Grey School, four applications, resolved to forward the name 3 of Masters James Fitzgerald James Johnston, and Mis i Patience Langdon. The Board resumed, and the foregoing reEolutiona w^re confirmed.
