ANNIVERSARY OF THE HOPE OF

W4KEFIBLD LODGE.

Thb sixteenth anniversary of the above named Lodge was held last evening at the Temperance Hall, when Mr Vercae, the District Deputy, presided. A varied programme wa3 presented. The Bra3B Band played well several selections, which were much enjoyed. Tbe choir gave several pieces, which were excellently rendered. Miese3 Boddington and Griffith contributed a couple of duet?, which were so appreciated that the au Jienoe desired more from the fair vocalists. Mr Richard Wallace with bis comic songd took immensely. Mrs Spenjer Franklyn and Mies Griffith gave solos, which were well eung, and elicited much applause. Messrs Baker ani E. MoPherson recited capitally. Mr C. Bryant's vooalisation was also enjoyed. Mr W. T, Bond briefly referred to the growth of the Temperance sentiment. The Key E. C. Isaac spoke of the economic side oi the drink question. Mr Hodgson Bpoke of tbe importance of making total abstainers, and eduoating the people on the Temperance question. Eaoh speaker wished continued prosperity to the Lodge, Mr Peart moved a vote of thanka to those who had assisted to make the anniversary so suoaesaful and pleasant, asd the Dietriot Deputy ably responded. Mis 3 Baigent did good servioe a* accompanist. The visitors were entertained at sapper at the close of the meeting.
