I Trial of Mrs Dean-
Invseoaboill, June 20. This afternoon the Crown Prosecutor addressed the jury in the Dean case. He spoke for nintty minutes. No witnesses were oslled for the defence. Mr Hanbo, Mrs Dean's oounsel, also ppohe for niDety rhindtee. fle obntended ' that the child Dorothy Edith Carter's was the rteult of mieadventare, the aooaßEd ' having given her an overdose of laudunuin. The jory, he contended, might return a ' verdict of manslaughter, bat the evidence did not justify finding one of wilful murder. He said the death of the oher ofai'd (Eva ; Bomsby) was oavsed by 'suffoaation, through vomiting milk given her by Mrs Hornsby. The Judge Baid the jury had had a euffioi- [ enfly trying day, so he would dtfer Bumming ' up uniil the following morning. '• Tha Court was crowded daring the afternoon, and a large number of women had to be content with standing room.
