Trial of Mrs Dean.
IsvßßOißaiix, Jane 18. • The trial of Minnie D«aa for the murder > of Dorothy Edhh Carter commenoed to-day in the Supreme Court, which. waß orowdsd, a ' largo proportion of the spectators being women. Absolutely nothing new came oat in the evidence, which .waa ' aß.h'ef ore,, bud* stantially the same as already telegraphed, or published. On reaching the point where the acouisd left Gore to go to Milburn for the iofaat Eva Hornsby, the Crown Proaeootor, Mr MabDonald, eaiel be would ask the Court to admit the evidence of the murder of Eva Hornsby in accordance with the ruling of the Frivy Council in the Makins oases of obild murder in New South Wales. Mr Hanlon, who appeared for the accused, said that in so serious a matter be was bound to object, but as the hour, 4-45 p.m, waa late, he suggested that argument be taken next day. This was agreed to, and the Court then rose. Twentyone witnesses have to be examined, and it ia expeoted that the trial will be finished on Thursday, but much will depend on the length of argument to-morrow, and of counsels' address end his Honor's summiog up.
