Tbe Aorere is due at Wellington this morning, and leaves there this evening for Pfttea. The Waverly leaves Opunake to-day for Wellington and Neison. She sails for West Coast ports at noon on Monday. The Kennedy leavas Westport to-day for Nelson, and sails at 2 p.m en Sunday foe Wanganui. The Charles Edward leaves Westport today far Nelson, and Bails f^r Wellington at 3 p.m on Sunday. The Murray will arrive from Wellington this morning, and s«il at noon for Westport and Wanganui. The Wainui arrived from Wei ington at 9*30 a.m yesterday, and sailed at noon for Greymouth. The Penguin arrived from Pioton, Welling ton and South at 10-30 a.m yesterday, and sailed on the return trip at 1.30 p.m. The Mawhara returns from West Coast this evening, and sails for Wellington direct Bt midnight. The Grafton left Manakau yesterday afternoon. She will arrive here on Sunday morning, and sails at noon for West (Jo»3t. The Lady Barkly returns from Golden Bay this evening. The Lily leaves at 10.30 this morning for Motiufca. The losb of a blade or to of the propeller of a big ocean steamer does not apparently git« the vessel a greet deal of inoonvooienos. At »ny rate, it is only inoidcntally mentioned on arrival in port, or j.e haps it ia not spjken of at all. There wa> a time, not co very long ago, when an occurrence of this bind wouid have had partioalar mention, and considerable spaoe wopld have bein givtn to the subject by the daily press. The loss of propeller blade? is not now so frequent as ie used to be, and in the event of i'.B happening, it means little more than a elightiy delayed passage, 'ihe triumph oi modern shipbuilding over many of the terrors of o'.d oo<an is marked, and it is to bo hoped it miy continually progress. Mews from the East by a reoent China mail states that an important addition has bean made to the Bussian fleet in Eastern wttrs by the arrival of the ironclad Nioolai 1., from Cronstadt. The vessel was conSiraoted in 1888, at a cost of £453,000. She is a twin- sore w vessel of 8440 tons, and is formidably armed.
