Wellington, May 29. The position with re^a^d to Mr McEwn, the dairy expert, is that his term of le^ve from the Canadian G vernment has expired. He was willing to accept a ptrm-inent engagement here, but the Government cou'd not Eec its way to pay the salary asked. He will therefore return to Canada, and the Minister of Agriculture has telegraphed to Mr Ward to engage an exper.' in Canada on t rms approved by the Government.
