INCOME TAX.
Washington, May 21. The Supreme Court has maintained the illegality of the income tax. May SI. Fin Judge? were epposed to the income tax, and four favored it. Tbe Court held that a direct tax on real estate and ptrsoi.al property could not be charged in accordance with repreßentatioo. Justice Harlan considered the decision would injure the authority of the Government ia emergency, relieve wealth, wickedly assault tbe people's rights, nod might cau.e a national disasier.
