Tariff Commission.
WELLiNaTON, February 13
Before the Tariff Commission yetterday, Mr Ooleman Phillips of tbe Wairarapa gave evidence as to the possibilities and requirements of the South Sea Island Trade. The question of tbe admission of the Presa was oguin discussed, come of the Commissioners regretting the present suppression of euoh valuable evidence, but tbe reeolation exoluding Psesfl was; re-affirmed. Mr S. Cirnell, M.H.R- gave evidence on matters relating to photography. The Commission will go south to-morrow, and after taking evidence at Christohurob, will visit Dunedin and Inveroargill. On the way baok, tbe Commissioners will make a stay at Oamaru, at Timaru, ami at Christohuioh, returning to Wellington via West Coast Af er further eviienoe hss been taken in Wellington, the Gomnrssion wili prooeed tbrough tbe North Island, going probably by the way of Wanganui. It ia anticipated that it will be necessary to apply for an extension of time in whioh to present a report, os the sittings of the Commission are expected to cooupy nearly three months. The Tariff Commißßion went South by tbe Takapuna this afternoon.
