Putting on the Brakes.

Wellington, January 15. A man named Rich Apps was to-day fined 20s and costs for applying the brakes to a passenger carriage while the train was coming down the Bimutaka Summit, and the Magistrate, after admonishing the defendant, said it was fortunate for him the authorities did not desire to press for a severe penalty.
