ROCKS ROAD COMMITTEE.
This Commitee met yesterday af.ernjon, when there were present Messrs Haddow. Talbot, Everett, Kidson, P. Best, Thomson, Bird, Piper, Bethwaite, Baigent, Beuke, and Traßk (in the ohair). The minutes we're read and oonfirmed. Payments amounting to £9 lOi were passed, and the Executive Committee reported having passed £134 3s 2d for wages during the month. It was resolved to write to Colonel Hume to "keep up the number of prisoners, Mr Piper asked if anything bai been heard as regards the petition for the r&liase of the prisoner Jacobsen. The Chairman stated that the Gjvernment, Judge Ward, eto, had been writtea to regarding the prisoner's case, and he bad hopes Jacpbsen'a release would be ob:ained in the near future. It was resolved that the Engineer oall for tenders for the powder needed. Aftsr some disoußsion, it was resolved that Mr F. Richmond be telegraphed to and asked whether he would give or cell suffioißnt land to lay out the whole of the road on the land. The Engineer said that if the land was obtained there would be no necessity to build a wall, as the road would be beyond high water mark. lhe Committee then adjourned.
