Nelson College -We learn that the Governors of Nelson College have resolved that Mias Olliver, of Christohuroh, is to fill the position of matron at the Boy's College. There were a number of applioanta for the position, and it is said that the choice was not easily arrived at.
The Building Society. -The December subscription meeting of the Nelson Permanent Buildiag Society takes plaoe to-night .
Pboposed Daisy Factoby.— We notioe tha* a meeting is to be held in the Clifton Terrace Schoolroom, Wakapuaka, to-morrow evening, for the purpose of considering the desirability of establishing a dairy factory i a that neighborhood. Theprioe now realised by farmers for their butter is somooh less than is obtained for factory butter that it is surely a matter for careful consideration on the part of the settlers in every centre, whether they oannot, by working together, seoure better returns for their labor. The meeting should be well attended, and we trnet that the snbjeofi will be thoroughly discussed in the interests of the settlers generally.
Mining Returns. — The following are the Reefton mining returns for the past week : -

Nelson Agbiodltobal Association.— At a meeting of the Committee of the Nelson Agricultural and Pastoral Association held on Thusday night Mr P. Best was in the chair, and there was a good attendance. Some correspondence was received and dealt with, after which resolutions were adopted thanking the Town Committee, and making special mention of Mr J Sharp, junr., and also the Nelson Jookey Club, and Mr Roderick Mcßae for the consideration shown the Association Speoial reference was made to the energetic and painstaking efforts of the Secretary, Mr Glenn, and as a mark of their high appreciation of the services of that gentleman it was resolved to present him with £25. Some remarks were made as to the next show, the preparations for which will be made in good time, and we are glad to hear that the Association will have some £200 in hand with whioh to set to work The prizes at the late show may be obtained on Saturday next between the hours ot 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the offices of Messrs Sharp and Sons, Hardy street, Nelson, and between 3 and 5 p.m at the Fire Brigade Station, Bichrnond.
