GHOST HUNTING AT HAMPTON

OHWEIR nine and ten o'olook on Friday, October 20, two full figures in white raiment suddenly, appeared hi the public highway, opposite the principal entrance gates leading to Hampton Court Palace, and darted off at almost lightning speed Along this road in the direction of Hampton Green. They were observed by a couple of Teddington dealers, drjiYing in the same direction, and so positive were i they that ihe figures had dropped from the walla surrounding the palace, and were ih some way^connected with Ihe 'family df ghosts now inhabiting the' Court, that' they immediately gave chase, shouting loudly for rhelpa^ they -drove furiously after the f ogitiye speotrea.;- Their bries induced other's to join in.: the/ hunt, lan&cwild shouts* of .'•The ghoataj the ghoatail" rang but in the clear night air, as the pack, some driving and some on . 'foot, took: upt the funning; "Upon this occasion the "ghosts" did not esca^a into thinair, as is their wont, r but allowed their pursuers, who were aided by the light of the moon, to catch sight of them from time to time as they proceeded at racing speed along the highway through the village of Hampton, and thence towards Fulwell railway station, where they suddenly stopped dead and turned upon the excited and breathless crowd now at their 'heels. Then it was discovered for the Jirst time that the two mysterious figures in saanty white raiment were but a couple of innocent yontha connected with a' local' pack of harriers; who were out i or an evening's run between Kingston and Isleworth.
