A HUSBAND'S TYRANNY.
To the Editor of the Colonist. Sir, -I notice ia your issue of Oatober 12. h a local in reference to the female franchise, in which a statement is made that " a husband not a hundred milea from Nelson sternly forbade his wife to have her name plaoed on the roll ; the wife being determined ahe would, and did." Now^ Sir, I hope that j there i 3 but one young Petruohio like simpleton in Nelson. I say advisedly yoang, beoauße I think that no old, experienced husband would aot- so foolishly. His experience, reason, and praotiaal philosophy would lead suoh an one to foresee {that happily the wife would retaliate by deliberately slitting his bea brc ejhes leaving him the v aseemly f ragmenta or she might metaphorically " wear tha breeohes" ia revenge to his total dieoom* fi are. I would not advise wives generally to follow the example of the wife alluded to. I would | rather urge the : better plan ol! subduing the obstinate one by the happy and praotioal foros of home-inflaenoe, " with ell its thousand fond endearing ties of tenderness domestio, Nature's best and loveliest gift, with which she well atones the niggard boon of fortune.'— Yours, &0., Thomas Gilbert.
