MOTUEKA ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Board, at wbich were present Messes Jordan (in the chair), Boyce, Bumbold, and Wratt, was held on the 4th inst. Tbe minutes of the previous monthly meeting having been read and adoptei, accounts for £15 5s were pissed for payment. In reply to a request made by Mr James Hunt, it was resolved, That permission be granted him to erect swing gates on the road through Hall's Island (now in his occupancy) on the condition that be allow a right of road to the public through the property to and from the Motueka river beach. In re the Woodlands private road, a letter was received from Mrs Dunn expressing her willingness to give the said road to the Board if it would accept same. A petition signed by property owners on the same road was read, requesting the Board to take over and put the road in good repair, promising contributions to the extant of £18 if the prayer of the petition was complied with. Resolved, That Ifce Board favorably entertains tbe proposal, but defers its final consideration for one month, and that whereas the total cost of taking over and making the road will probably be not less than £50, the County Council be respectfully urged to increase their proposed contribution to £10, as by so doing the Board might be able to provide tbe balance for the work, and thus definitely and satisfactorily terminate the question now pending anent the action of the Council in concentrating the drainage of the village upon the western end of tbis road. Messrs C. Eden and A. Grooby interviewed the Board, requesting tbat they might be provided with pipes to lay a culvert across the Moutere road (north). , BesolveS, That a sufficient number of 6in. pipes, be granted, Messrs Eden and Grooby to lay Bame to the. satisfaction of the Board. Besolved, That the Secretary procure 70 6in, and 30 9in. pipes.. ■ Besolved,, That, the road repairs at the western end of the distriot be postponed till the weather amends, Mr Wratt to supervise. Besolved, That Bumbold's lane be repaired
