DRAMATIC ENTERTAINMENT.

The performance given by tbe Temperance Dramatic Club on July 25th at the Theatre, was well patronised. The management reversed the usual order of things, and the entertainment commenced with the laoghable faroe entitled " Found in a Four-wheeler." Of the (our characters, Joe Capsize a cabby with a keen eye for self, and a voracious greed for " tips," was well sustained by Mr Vcrcoa, B 9 was that of Milly Meddlesome, the inquisitive housemaid, by Mrs Vercoe; the lady and gentlmean who took the other characters were Been to greater advantage in the drama. The drama entitled "the Drunkard" whioh followed, is a heavy piece with an admixture of patbo3 and mirth. Mr Day as Edworci Middlaton, the drunkard, played well and carefully throughout avoiding (what is too oltsn found in amateur performanoes) exaggeration and rant. Lawyer Cribbs, the villain of the plot, was a ohftracter whioh gave plenty to do, and Mr B. Baker is to be complimented on the manner in whioh he represented that aooial jackal. Mrs Watson as Mary Wilson was natural, and though her voice was weak at times, she filled the double part of daughter and wife admirably. Mhs Watson's easa of manner was striking, and she played with spirit, extracting much fnn out of tbe oharaeter of the f asty old maid (Mi?s Spindle). Little Mias Shone as Julia Middleton was quite at home, and her presence added greatly to the impressivecesa of the pathetio scenes. Miss Larkios in the oharaoter of Agnes Dowton received a recall for her excellent vocalisation. Mr Watson (as a blofi and true-hearted rustio) and Mr Shone (the philanthropist) filled their parts with quiet earnestness. The management and members of the Club have reason to be satisfied with the success of the performance, and with the appreciation of the audienoe. The orchestral mu3ic, under the conductorship of Mr Airey, ft, A.M., was excellent, and most enjoyable.
