[united pbess association ] ' Washington, August 4. , The Conference of delegates from the Trades and Inbor Councils in New Zea'and opened to-night. Those present were : — Auokland : Hon. W. Jennings, M.L C., Messrs W. Worth, andF. Bycroft; Dunedin: Mr Pinkerton, M.H.8.; Chris' church : Mr E. Sandford, M.H.8., and Mr B. K>rr ; Southland : Mr J. W. Kelly ; Wellington : Mr A. Ward (VicePreeident of tbe Trades and Labor Council), and Mr A. Collins. Mi- Ward was elected Chairman, and weloomed the delegates. Among the questions to be disousaed is the federation of the trade and labor Councils of the Colony. Tbe proaeedings aro not open to the Press.
