The Auckland Election.

[united press association.] Auckland, August 4. The tot*! vo'eß polled yesterday were ' Cadmsn 1833, Bees 1132, with twenty one informal. This gives a total of 3035 votes recorded. At the general election tbe total number of votes reoorded for seven candidates ' was 9451. Each elector having three votes this gives the number of electors who then exercised the franchise as 3150. being 114 in excess of the total number of votes recorded at yesterday's contest. In view of the fact . lhat 1779 voterß bava been struck out of the ■ city rolls sinoe the general election, it is evident that yesterday's polling was muoh larger proportionately than at the general eleotion. This view is supported by the pressure at the polling booths in the OadmanBees conteßt, officials at the central booth , being unable to meet the press of voters. ,
