M&JKaJLB M. a ETjlmss Artibtio PnoxoaKAPHX. — We have been shown a number of photographio portraits by Mr Tyreo. of Trafalgar street, which are especially beautiful. Mr Tyree has recently introduced some new processes in photographic printing, one of them being a method of his own perfecting, and which he calls the Tyreetype. Some of the portraits galened to are printed according to the Kalhtype process, these aro iron prints developed on silver, andthe pictures, which are of a black tone,' are in appearance like fine chalk lithographs. Other prints aro produced by what is known as the Ivorytype, the sensatizing agent being bromide of silver, on artificial ivory, the effect being that of a metzotint engraving on ivory. Other pictures are what are known as gela tino-ehloride prints on paper They are greyish in tone, and somewhat resemble the Platinotype. The most effective of the pic tures, however, were those produced by Mr Tyree's own process, and to bo known as Tyreetypes. These photographs are printed on a matt surface, and they present all the characteristics of fine engravings, with a soft- . ness not attainable by any of the other processes. The gradation of he tones in remarkable, and these works of art are certain to command admiration. In the posing of the children whose pictures we are particularly alluding to, Mr Tyree has been very happy, and these photographs are, as wo have advisedly said, real pictures-— Colonist, Oth, 1891.
