Ltbll, Jane 26. The Alqine mine manager reports 'that during tbe week the contractors, f-.ir the No. 7 uprise have risen nine feet, the reef locking bb well as ever. The contractors for the extension of No. 7 level have driven six feet, and the oountry is Btill hard, but I expect to get into softer ground every moment. There is an improvement in the reef in *.he stopes, the stone being cleaner than usual. Tha return from the battery is 400 dunoes amalgam from 214 tons of stone.
