SYDNEY. June 9. A terrific easterly gale is blowing, and a fearful sea is limning along the coast. Five coasters, have heen driven ashore — the schooner Bertha, and the ketches Sea Nymph, Gteorgina Davis, and Jessie Sinclair at Grial Bay, and the : schooner Venus at Bellinger Heads: " The crew of the Venus were seen clinging to the ratlines of the wrecked vessel, and a pilot crew gallantly put off from the shore in the endeavor to effect their rescue. They were unable, however, v to reach the ' vessel, and returned to the beach, Shortly afterwards they mad 9 a second attempt to get alongside the schooner. A telegram received from Bellinger Heads late this evening states that the crew, of the Vsnug have been brought ashore ia safety. It is not known whether tbe lesone was due to the second essay oi the piloj boat proving successful. No definite information is yet to hard regarding the crews of the other vessels, but from the nature of Trial Bay it is anticipated that the men have escaped with their lives.
