October 16. The oase against Eden George was continued ta-day, when the evidence for tbe prosecution was concluded. Mr Strirger for the defence, contended that the whole evidence came from a paok of discharged employees ol Mr George. Mr George himself gave evidence, denying that he asked Gerstenkora to trump up a charge of having damaged the studio against Manning and Meera, fhe oase was adjourned till tomorrow. The steamer Kahn arrived from tbe Ofaathams to-day, reporting tbar wreckage was washed ashore at tbe Island last month, supposed to belong to the barqae Aeuaye, which left London for Wellington on February 16th, and was spoten on the Equator on Maroh 16th by (he ship Angerona. The principle objects found were a life buoy with ths letters S3A and part of Yor W ; boxes and bandies of candles, several eases marked Dunedin and Wellington, one addressed Government Office Wellington, another marked A with figuraa 734,626 over 942. three rolls of printing paper, and part of cabin tarmtnro and boats.
