The adjourned meeting of the above was held in Sigley's Hall on August 8, [when between 30 and 40 were present, Mr R. Bur i beiog in the cha : r. The Chairman saiJ they were met to elect offioer3 and frame a log. and whichever the meeting taw fit would be proceeded with. Messrs Gibson and Hiase though* they should first elect their officers and commiti.ee, who could frame a log after a fuller considsiation than possible at eueh a meeting. Th9Chairmm stated that, as the Union waa formed, all who had not joined were requested to retire or join jftfr Garrett, who had not joined, stated i that he was n t an able bodied man, being elderly, and asked if he could j no the Union add still work for a lesg wage than a young able bodied man, seeing that he could not do the same work. The opinion was this cou'd not be answered until the log was framed. The election of officers was next proceeded with, and Mr Alfred Barltrop proposed Rev. F. W. Isifct a? President, subject to his accepting same, a Committee tj wait upon him for an answer. Mr Btaisbaw seconded the proposition. Mr B sl j y thought it was hardly fair ti pitchfork the reverend gentl- mm ; he might Dominate several in the sicae manner. Mr Gaynor said the best way was to nominate Mr leitt ag a member, and be did co Mr Isitt was then nnanim usly elc*c:ej President. Mr Braddook wa3 elected Treasurer after a ballot. For Secretary there were four nominations and Mr A. H. Barltrjp was electei afcer a ballot. Mr Gibson propoeed, and Mr Large seconded, that a hearty vote of thanks be accorded to the Chairman, pro tern Secretary, and late Committee for thtir services in having brought the Association to co successful an i~sue, and that the pro tern Secretary receive £1 from the funds for his services. Carried. The following were then elected as an Executive Committee, there being twelve nominations: Messrs Gibson, Murphy, Cave, Gaynor, Moore, and Bray. Messrs Coventry and Hoope.' were appointed Auditori.
