News hat reached here of a terrible etorm vbich wai experienced at Hong Kong on May 29th. Damage to the axtent of a million dollars was dose, and all business in shipping was stopped, The lower lying looalitiea ware converted into an immense lake. Tba number of lives lost had not beau ascertained, but probably it was under fifty. The lightning struck a mat shed and the eight •ooupantß were killed Twenty-four inoheß of rain fell in five hours, and forty-three inches of rain in three days.
