NELSON JOCKEY CLUB.

Tna half-yearly general meeting of the members of the Nelson Jockey Club was held on Saturday evening at the Masocic HotelThere was not a very numproua attendance, and Mr A. Greenfield presided. The minutes of the special general meeting of March 16, were read and confirmed. The Treasurer, Mr C. S. Sharp, presented the report and balance sheet, wbich'showed that the Club was in a better financial posieition than at the same time last year, On the motion of Mr John Sharp, seconded by Mr R. M'Rae, the report and balance sheet were adopted. Mr F. Green asked if permisiion would be granted for trotting sulkies to train on the course in the few days which would elapse before the meeting if the weather was fine and dry. .. , . After. some discussion, Mr P. N. Jones proposed that horses engaged in the trotting race should be allowed to train outside of the main course in trotting sulkies only on Monday and Tuesday, at a fee of 2s 6d per horse per day, provided that no rain falls in tbe maantime. ' ' Mr J. A. Harley seconded the motion, | whioh was carri&d. ' It was decided, en the motion of Mr J. Harley, seconded by Mr Buckingham, that no horses having trained on the ploughed gallop be allowed to start in any race until the fee for training permit has been paid. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Green seconded by Mr Buckingham, that in fuiuro no horses be allowed on the course until the training fee has been paid. Mr M'Rae proposed, and Mr Buckingham seconded, that a caretaker be appointed to collect fees and to ensure the ploughed gallop being kept in proper condition.
