THE ENTERPRISE GOLD MINING COMPANY.

Ah extraordinary meeting of the shareholders in this Company was held at the office of Mr S. J. Beeves last evening, when about IfyQOO shares were represented by those present. The business of the evening was to consider the disposal of the forfeited shares now in the hands) of the Company, and after some disoUssion it was resolved to leave the matter in the hands of the Directors, giving them {tower to do as they deem best. A telegram fid.m the Mine Manager was then read, and this stated that a well known prospector had offered to disclose the whereabouts.of a payable reef, which he had discovered upon the Company's ground, for the sum of £50. The telegram evoked discussion and it was ultimately decided to accept the offer, and that an agreement between the Company and the prospector referred to should be prepared, providing that upon the reef discovered proving payable, the prospector Bhall reoeive the amount specified. The shareholders present were all agreed that the Company should not be wound up, and they expressed a desire that prospecting should be carried on vigorously, and that as much should be made of the reported discovery as possible. A letter from several of the Christohuroh shareholder! was then read, in which a desire Wad expressed that the Directors- would have a crushing of stone taken from the hanging wall of the reef which has been worked, inasmuch as the best gold was obtained from the hanging wall. It was resolved to forward the letter to the Mine Manager for hii opiaion, but it was evident that many agreed -with the Christchurch shareholders that payable results could be obtained from the hanging wall. Concerning* the reported discovery of a payable reef upon the Company's ground, we may state that a well known prospector was sent out by some Nelson men to prospect for silver, and it would seem that in fossicking for the latter motal he has made the discovery on the Enterprise ground of what he asserts is a payable reef. We hope that the discovery may prove a very valuable one.
