THE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE AND THE MINISTER FOR EDUCATION.
The following telegraphio correspondence between Mr J. H. Harkness (Nelson), President of the New Zealand Education Institute, and the Hon. Geo. Fisher, Minister for Education, was read at the last meeting of the Council on Friday afternoon: — Mr J. E. Harkness, President N.Z. Ed. Institute, to Hon. Geo. Fishor, Minister for Education. " Besolution passed by Council of Education Institute asking you to receive deputa-. tion on business resolved. Will Monday, before leaving of Southern steamer, suit your convenience." Nelson, January 5,1888. Hod. Geo. Fisher, Minister for Education, to Jas. Harkness, Esq., President Council Ed. Institute, Nelson. "Leava Wellington for Sooth to-morrow. Will be baok in a week. L«t me know if that will suit yon. Address: Wellington, till to* morrow morning at 11 o'clock." Feathergtone, January 5,1888. Jas. H. Harkness, President Ed. Institute, to Hon. Geo. Fisher, Mm. for Education. " Exceedingly inoonyenient for deputation to wait in Wellington till your return. Awaiting reply." Nelson, January 6,1888. Hon. Geo. Fisher, Mm. for Education, to J. H. Harkness, Esq. Fres. Ed. Institute. " I did not ask deputation to wait in Wellington till my return. I merely wished to, say that Ministers' movements are sg«*pm 1 ranged that I leave for the South to-day. I shall be sorry if deputation suffers %ny inconvenience." , ■**mmt^
