COLLINGWOOD COUNTY COUNCIL.
Tn usual monthly meeting of the above Council was held at Coliintswood on Ootober fill, 1887, all the members being present. The minutes of last meeting were read and MBfirmed. A latter was reowVed from Mr T. Heath, Mkiog for a grant to improve the table land trtok. . . . Cr Cook proposed, and Cr Page seconded, that a reply be sent to Mr Heath, stating, that as the Clerk was informed at the Crown Landi Office in Nelson that all the leases in tkt Mount Arthur District had lapsed, and = tht Council was receiving no revenue there* from, it haa no funds available for the work applied for. Carried. Cr Keilly proposed, and Cr Packard se•oodfd, that the Clerk apply to the Coraraistuner of Crown Lands asking for a return ©1 all (if any) of the pastoral, agricultural, or mineral leases held in the Mouut Arthur District ; also amounts of rental. Carried. Proposed by Cr Page, seconded by Cr Packard, that the Clerk obtain by next meet-, tog a list of all persons who have taken out aimers' rights in the Aorere and Takaka Sidings respectively ; such list to be for the ytar ended 30th September last. Carried. Proposed by Cv Willicombe, seconded by Cr Beitly, tbat a letter be sent to the Member Cor this district \llt O'Conor), requesting him to interview" the Hon. the Minister of Mines, and lay before him the difficulties the Council ba9 in carrying out the works authorised. by that Department, and explaining to Mr O'Conor that the Department seems to consider tbat the Council is either incapable of oarrying out the works, or it is not to be tiusied with the money *, that the Conncil naturally feels aggrieved at the discourteous treatment it has received from the Mines Department; and lequeats Mr O'Conor to g«t the Government to place the sums voted to the credit of the Council, or to cany out the works themselves. Copies of the letters authorising the works to be forwarded to Mr O'Conor. Carried. A circular was received from th«Waltaki County Council re the method of obtaining titles to road lines exchanged or otherwise. Eesolved, that the circular bo forwarded to Mr O'Oonor, with a letter stating that this Council fully endorses the purpose of the circular. Resolved, that the Clerk write to tbe Impeotor of Slaughterhouses at Takaka, requesting him to inspect Mr Abbott's slaughterhouse, and report as to- the cleanliness and drainage thoreof; also as to where tha offal ii deposited. Propoied by Cr Willioombe, seconded by Cr Pagt, that Mr O'Conor be requested to got the following sums placed on the EstiBatei: — & Continuation of horse track, Collingwood to Karamea .. .. 1500 Takaka to Coliiugwood, main road (inland) 2000 East Road, Takaka, to connect with road over Ranges.. «. 1600 Takaka to Table Lani .. .. 1500 Takaka to Siockyard, via Canaan, to open up lands for sale .. 1600 Anatoki Track (to complete) .. 1000 Bridge — Takaka River— Paine's Ford 4000 Also, £500 from the Mines Department for tha purpose oi continuing the Upper Aorere Track, under the vote for opening up tracks to new gold field*. j
