No improvement in the demand was shown, and the market was eteady, but inactive. Inferior merino wools were lid and 2Jd lower than last Bales' closing rates; washed fleece |d to Id lower; and medium scoured lambi I*dto2d. October 2. O'Brien, and Sullivan (Mayor of Dublin) have been summoned to appear op Thursday for publishing in the newspapers United Ireland and National report! of the doings of the suppressed branches of the National League. The Australian mails per P. and 0. s.a Valetta, dated Melbourne, Aug. 29, were delivered here yesterday. Adye Douglas, Agent-General for Tasmania, will leave England for that Colony on November 4. The second race between the American yachts Volunteer and Thistle for the American Cup took place to-day and resulted in a win for the American yacht by upwards of two miles. During the race a strong wind with a heavy sea was experienced. The Volun* teer having won two races is declared the holder of the Cup.
