Court this; afternoon Alfred Robin and Alfred Worsfold, clerks in the employ of the- Gear Meat Company, were committed for trial on charges of alleged embezzlement of money belonging to the firm. 4 September 25. At the inquest on the body of the Maori found in the bush near Sandon, a verdict of felo de se was returned. The body has been identified as that of a Native rangatira from the upper river. The motive for committing the act cannot be explained. Messrs Frazer and Menteath, candidates for the Te Aro, addressed the electors last night, each receiving vote of confidence. It is expected that the contest between the two will be keen. AUCKLAND, September 23.
