NEW ZEALAND RIFLE ASSOCIATION'S PROGRAMME.

[Per United Press Association.] Wellington, Sept. 24 A Sub-Committteeof the N:Z. Rifle Association consisting of Capt Somerviile (chairman), Capt. Rogers (Blenheim), and Capts MoCredie and Gollini (Wellington), have drawn up a programme for the next meeting, which takes place at Oamaru on Monday, 29th February. It has beea decided to divide the matches into two stages The first; stage which is to be open to ail members, will comprise rangea from 200 to,COO yards, and in one or two instances there will be standing and kneeling positions at 200 and 300 yards. In addition to tbe prize money for iiidividua"1 matches the following prizes will be given to the highest egsre ;ate scorers in this stage. Highest aggregate, £20 and silver medal; second, £15 ; tbird, £10; and fourth, £5 The Beccivl (stage will be confined to the 60 highest aggregate scorers in tbe first stßge, and thee will fire tea shots at both 700 and 800 yards. The usual money prizes are being given for the highest scorers. The .final stage for tbe honor of being the champion shot of New Zealand, will be open to the thirty highest eboren in tho first and second

stages, and t'eu sljots will bs'fired a .900 yds, the scores at this beat to be .tfddel t> ihe pfjvious aggregate, and tbe highest total aggregate to be the- champion. In addition to the beit, the 'champion will take the New Zealand Rifle' Association's gold medal and £50 ; • second highest, £35 ; third, £25 ; fourth, £20; fifth,-£10." Tbe Comnriitee decided to make no alteration in the conditions for taeTeams Match, which remains as in-former years. This match will-comprise four distances, the longest being COO jards. £200 will he given, cut up into eight prizes, the highest being £50, in addition to which the winning team will hold f-r the yew HoWn'a Cup, valne £200. It has been decided to revise the match,' North v. ijouth, in which the twenty highest aggregate scores in the North and South I*l nd Corpi will be pitted. against one another. The Rifle Challenge Gup will be held for the year by tbe highest scorer in the wiumng tetin ; and tho Carbine Challenge Cup'by ihe highest scorer in the losing team. The Commi tee have agreed to ask for designs for a new champion belt, tbe value cf which is not to exceed £50. Th« .disposal of the present Rifle aud Carbine belts was discussed, and although a decision was arrived at, it was thought advisable not to publish it for the present. The. total amount of prize money given away at the meeting is £1200. The Lee-Remington is the weapon to be used, and 10,000 rounds of ammunition are t» be procured from America.
