To the Editor of the Colonist.
Sib, —Will you kindly correct in your Saturday's issue an error in the report of my Friday 'a speech* in my questions to Mr Field and bis answers. The fiisfc question was, " Are you the tmstee mentioned in this deed?" Mr Field: "Yes," "Did you. let the V.M C.A. hall to Mr Gibbs." " I did," '• Did you tell Mr Sigley to collect the money and afterwards return it?" "'ldid." "Did you consult the Committee ?" " X did not." It is quite my fault that the error occurred, as I saw the reporter's manuscript, bat did not notice it. In asking these questions I did not wish to impl.v that Mr 3. B Sigloy in using the room of the Committee in collection i.f payment from Mr Gibbs, was actiog in any other way than the usual one, and which the Committee have always endorsed. It is in justice to Mr J. E. Sigley and to clear Mr T. Field from any imputation of answering my questions in any other than a straightforward way. Yours, &0., J, Piper. [We are pleased to insert Mr Piper' 3 correction. As that gentleman implies, our reporter showed him his manuscript, andhe did so to ensure the report being correct, for owing to the noise going oofn f it was at times difficult to catch what was said.— Ed. «Col.'] 4
