WILLMOTT'S COMBINATION COMPANY.
Thebe was a fair attendance at the Theatre last night to ■witness the new three-act comedy " Crutch and Toothpick." The piece is full of novel situations and amusing incidents, keeping the audience in a good humor throughout. Guy Deveraux, the penniless gentleman, who marries the daughter of the rich man of business was taken by Mr Rede, and his cool way of doing the masher in the first two acts and his entering into business as the bagman in the last was highly appreciated. Mr Hesford, as the man of business, was an immense success, and greatly assisted to make the piece go so smoothly as it did. Mr "Wilkinson's representation of the London tailor and successful man, always full of business, was very funny, and the Cecil Leighton of Mr Simmonds was carefully and evenly played. Miss Crawford, as Dolly Deveraux, scored another success, as did also Miss Lawrence, as Amy Jones. The minor characters were well sustained by other members if the Company. The comedy was exceedingly well dressed, and went very smoothly, the actors being recalled at the end of each act. For to-night is announced the new grand spectacular drama in four acts, "Life," and we hope this deserving Company will get such a house as will show them that the Nelson people can appreciate the efforts put forth by such a olever Company to produce a really first class performance, and to please their patrons.
