A, companion, however, named:-Neve, managed to get the deceased on., to his | back, and endeavored to swim to .the side.of.the ba%,but young Braddbck slipped off, amUus cbmipanion was nearly; exhausted m his efforts to save him. The other'boys present thfen raised an alarm, and Mr Barnes, who was preparing .to bathe, hastened to render assistance. Mr Caldwell, schophnaster at the Bridge-street schools, also dived m with the view° of rescuing young Braddock, but he failed to find the body; subsequently,,however, Mr H. Bradley, who was attractedby the alarm, and thereupon proceeded to assist, succeeded in drawing the body to the surface with the aid of a rake, and endeavors were then madeto restore animation. Dr Hudson was sent for, and in a short time the doctor was in attendance, and, Constable Levy also arrived on the scene, and the efforts to restore the poor boy were continued by them, but we regret to say without success. The parents of the deceased reside in Wellington street, Mr Braddock being a painter. We understand that an inquest will be held this afternoon. „ • :: . ■■::
