liTfiew of the approaohing departure of Mr Maston, 3'A., who bas for. some time past been ministering at this church, a tea mooting and social gathering .were held at the meeting 1 bouse in ' Waimea" Street) yesterday; idN'cCless than 250 were present at the ; tea.meeting. Thetables, which were tastefully decorated with flowers, bore a profusion of the good things usual on.such ocoasions, and the tea and appointments were excellent. At the social gathering which took place after tea, Mr Allan .took the. chair, and after, the proceedings had been opened with/ prayer by Mr Maaton, the Chairman delivered bis opening add.re.Sß,.. Mr Lewis wa3 the next ppn°W, his subject being " The Church and Children of God." Mr John Griffiths, of Spring Grove, then "delivered an address on " Christ and His Truth," and in turn wag followed by Mr I. M. Hill, who took for his text, "The-Bible, one unbroken truth ; it shall remain so." Mr J. Barton was the succeeding speaker, and his interesting remarks had reference to the early history of the Church here. The lasfc to speak sva? Mr Maston, who gave an address upon the work of the Church, and iii his concluding remarks he Bpoke of how muoh he had enjoyed his reception in Nelson, and then he bade them farewell prior to his departure for Tasmania. . The Several speakers were each listened to jrifch muoh, attention and interest, and the addresses were interspersed with some excellent singing by the choir.
