Wb hare been requested to publish' the following correspondence, which tells its > own story:— • Nelson College, September 22, 1879. W. Acton B. Adams, Esq., M.H.R. Sir,—We, the boys of Nelson College; of which institution it is well known you Were once head boy, bare watched with keon interest"th 6 late political crisis. Loyal to Nelson's interest, we of oourse are opponents of Sir George Grey. It was*with great satisfaction that we beard of. the defeat of his Ministry; Whan he appenled^ to ;the country, we hoped that your prediction that the people would reject his followers would prove correct. We all knew that your return for Nelson would-be certain. It was with no small feeling of pride that we witnessed the leturn for the 5 second" time of pnoj; whoftwhemat Nelson College, "distinguished hlmself~a(l 9 its" leader. We almost feel it as our due that to commemorate this event we should have a longer vacation than uaual at Michaelmas. We now beg to petition you to ask our Principal for this extra holiday, aB we feel that if asked for by you, it oannot be refused. We usually hare four days, but we think,that under these circumstances we should have thistime at least: a week.
